Does your child hate brushing their teeth? Well, we have some suggestions for you to make brushing more fun for both you and your child! Try changing your child’s perspective of oral hygiene by doing one or more of the following things:
Hum a tune
Choose a two minute song and have your child hum through it while they brush their teeth. This will not only entertain your child, but it will also help your child effectively and deeply clean their teeth. While they brush, they can get more involved by moving their lips, tongue, and jaw. This way, they will get different angles while they brush, which will result in a better cleaning job. Have fun with this and be a two-man, or woman, band and hum while you and your child brush!
Create a bubble machine
Convince your child that they are a bubble machine. The more they scrub their teeth with toothpaste, the more bubbles they will make, which will make your child the bubble machine! As they create bubbles, their entire oral cavity will be cleaned and nourished.
Make it a family activity
Make brushing your teeth a family activity! Get the parents, the child, and even the family dog in the bathroom. Now, brush your own teeth and then switch and brush each other’s teeth! This will make brushing fun and it will also give your child the chance to have fun brushing your teeth. If you decide to brush the dog’s teeth as well, make sure to use a different brush and you and your child wash your hands afterward.
Play music
Play music while your child brushes their teeth. If you pick a two minute song that they know and love, they can sing, dance, and have fun while they brush!
Use an hourglass timer
Children are fantasized with hourglass timers. If you use an hourglass timer rather than a digital timer, they will enjoy brushing their teeth while they watch the sand drop from one side of the glass to the other.
